General Power Hour Meeting
November 13, 2025
Called to order at 12:00 pm by Katie Zipperer.
Board Members Present: Joy Johnson, Teresa Bauman, Penny Pearce plus Chamber Administrator Katie Zipperer
- Pledge of Allegiance, host recognition and thank you.
- Agenda Review
- Added
- Easter Board Report, revise presenter to Added
- Presenter was revised from John Sullivan to Sharick Wade.
- Added
- Approval of Minutes: James Martin made a motion to accept the October 9, 2025 minutes, Cindy Tacha seconded, motion approved by vote.
- Filing of Treasurer’s Report: James Martin made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report, Rita Daniel seconded, motion approved by vote.
- Board Nominations
- Five open positions.
- Joy Johnson nominated Cindy Tacha; she accepted the nomination.
- More nominations were solicited; none were voiced.
- Rita Daniel stated that she’s given the board role descriptions to Jessica Ashauer and Ashley Marsh.
- Donna Metcalf nominated Scott Lancaster; he declined the nomination.
- It was determined that people can be nominated at the December general meeting.
- It was suggested asking Megan Mosher if anyone at the hospital would like to be on the board.
- Cindy Tacha wondered if anyone from the town office would be interested.
- Katie asked if the Reboot Committee has a copy of the membership tiers. They don’t have it. It will be provided to them.
- Scott Lancaster brought up the issue of advertising for all businesses not just members. Donna Metcalf thinks we should promote all businesses. Katie stated that if it wasn’t for advertising for non-member businesses there wouldn’t be anything to put in the newsletter.
- Chuck Stone Citizen of the Year Award nominations are due December 16th. Two nominations have been received. The venue for January meeting/banquet will be South Side. Several dates to choose from will be given to South Side and the nominees. There are no more details at this time.
- Katie Zipperer asked for hosts of 2026 meetings. Peak Vista will host in May, the museum will host in November, the Work Force will host in September, Lincoln County Economic Development will host in April, Morgan Community College will host in March.
- Board Review
- Joy Johnson announced that as of right now, the Brunos will not be donating bikes for the Easter Egg Hunt. In the past, the Brunos have donated ten bikes.
- James Martin asked about continuing with CardPointe payment processing. Teresa Bauman shared some of the costs we’ve incurred. Joy Johnson reported that Sara Lancaster will remove her name from the current CardPointe account. Plus, the board has decided that the current CardPointe processing will be terminated on November 30, 2025. Katie Zipperer answered that High Plains Bank in Flagler has another program that’s available. No details are known. PayPal and Square were discussed.
- Hometown Christmas
- Donna Metcalf laid out the schedule:
Noon: Movie, Zootopia 2
2 – 4: Pictures with Santa at town hall
2 – 4: Pictures with the Grinch at Hoffman’s
4: Brass band
4: Ugly Sweater Contest at the library

- Penny will have to figure out photographers for two locations at the same time.
- James Martin suggested sending flyers home with students.
- Cindy Tacha suggested sending flyers home with preschool students.
- Scott Lancaster asked if Hoffman’s was sponsoring both pictures.
- Donna Metcalf announced that she’s going to hold a Passport raffle and Gnome on the Shelf.
- Round Table
- Michael Bidwell of Morgan Community College announced that they are hosting an informative session on early childhood education.
- Lincoln County Economic Development will hold small business classes in January. Rural Philanthropic Days will be held in Yuma July 8– 10, 2026.
- Donna Metcalf announced that Brown Funeral Home will possibly hold an open house at their new Limon office on December 6th.
- Learning Presentation
- Shadrick Wade of the Limon Heritage Museum presented highlights from this year. The USA Tour Company from Missouri stopped at the museum six times; they had 300 students for spring field trips; there were 1500 visitors, from different countries, states and Colorado towns. Donna Metcalf stated that it would be nice if those tours would eat at local restaurants. Heritage Days was selected for a drone show on June 13, 2026. Another historic structure, the 1890s River Bend School House, will soon be brought to property and put beside the Gates house. The school house will be repurposed for displays. It will be ready by next summer. They’ve also added two 1969 military trucks.

Limon Chamber of Commerce
Board Meeting
November 4, 2025
Called to order at 6:06 pm.
Present: Jake Herrera, Teresa Bauman, Joy Johnson, Jess Castle, Sara Lancaster, Alison Arnold plus Chamber Administrator Katie Zipperer
- Alison made a motion to approve Katie’s October time of 15 hours, Jess seconded, motion approved by vote.
- Jake announced that he is unable to attend the November and December general meetings or the December board meeting. Katie will run the general meetings.
- Jake reported that he met with leadership from Triple Oak, an energy company putting a wind farm in the Karval area. The company is interested in building community relationships and investing in the community.
- Nominations for the five vacant 2026 board positions were discussed. There are nine positions on the board. Cindy Tacha is interested in being on the board. Joy will nominate her at the general meeting.
- Chuck Stone Citizen on the Year Award/Annual Banquet
- Information and nomination forms need to be distributed.
- Jake reported that South Side is willing to host the banquet.
- Last year, nominations were due before the December board meeting but there’s not enough time for that now. A due date of December 16th was agreed on. A decision will be made by the board via email.
- The top three nominees and their friends and families will be invited to the banquet.
- We will give South Side and the top three nominees a few January dates to pick from.
- Parade of Lights
- Jake will confirm with MVEA to see if they want to sponsor a prize.
- Richard Yarian will line up participants.
- DOC will lead the parade.
- Hometown Christmas
- Currently there are 16 vendors, some having 2 spaces.
- Jake will follow up with Donna on times for pictures with the Grinch, pictures with Santa and the movie which is Zootopia 2.
- CardePointe Processing
- Sara is removing her name from the account since she won’t be on the board. It was agreed that Sara will discontinue Cardepointe on December 1st.
- Katie knows a woman who is offering free processing.
- It was agreed that we need to move to a cheaper payment platform. Jake will do research and talk to ECB.
- Wrestling Tournament
- Between board members, tables will be manned both days with no need for additional volunteers or a sign-up sheet.
- 2026 Membership
- All invoices to mail will be printed by November 15th. Jake will hand deliver those to businesses as face-to-face contact is thought to be beneficial.
- Greg Tacha has said that the town will pay the bills for the billboards. The billboards should then be put in the town’s name. Jim Herron is moving and brought a box of lightbulbs to the library.
- Teresa and Katie have been going through old records. They found that bills were historically paid late.
