Limon Chamber of Commerce

General Power Hour Meeting

May 8, 2025

Called to order at 12 pm.

Board Members Present: Teresa Bauman, Alison Arnold, Joy Johnson plus Chamber Administrator Katie Zipperer

  1. Pledge of Allegiance, host recognition and thank you.
  • Agenda Review—No revisions
  • Approval of Minutes: Alison Arnold made a motion to accept the April 10, 2025 minutes, Donna Metcalf seconded, motion approved by vote.
  1. Filing of Treasurer’s Report: Teresa Bauman reported who has paid membership dues and what businesses have donated to specific events, that she’s transferring those intended donations to savings so they are not spent on anything else and that there is $2,698 in the copier account. Alison Arnold asked Teresa Bauman if the copier checking account is faring better with regular invoicing. Teresa Bauman’s answer was yes. Teresa Bauman reported that the copier lease ends in August. Donna Metcalf asked if the copier is on a lease-to-own plan. Teresa Bauman answered yes. Donna Metcalf made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report, Alison Arnold seconded, motion was approved by vote.
  • Board Reports
    • There is a vacancy on the Chamber Board.
    • July 4th Celebration
      • Katie Zipperer reported that donations have been received for fireworks.
      • Joy Johson gave information on vendors stating that she only had approximately seven vendors currently; if she didn’t have at least 25 vendors by June 4th the vendor fair would be canceled.
        • Raejean Palko asked what was being done for advertising. Joy Johnson and Katie Zipperer answered Facebook posts, emails to vendors and flyers.
      • Alison Arnold reported that the American Legion was partnering with Jason Bandy for food. Alison Arnold asked Monica Gonzales if Peak Vista was going to do the watermelon roll. Joy Johnson asked Monica Gonzales for an answer specifically if Peak Vista was going to do the watermelon roll. Monica Gonzales answered no. Monica Gonzales stated that Peak Vista will donate watermelon for the meals. Alison Arnold asked Monica Gonzales how the watermelons would be delivered to the football field. Monica Gonzales answered that she will deliver the watermelons to the football field in the morning of the 4th.  
  • Round Table
    • Teresa Bauman stated that the Chamber needs to work on getting more members in order to be sustainable.
    • Katie Zipperer announced that the library will be adding a business research center in the existing computer lab. She also informed attending members that she has the capability of doing fingerprints. Plus the library has purchased telehealth kits after a request was made from Peak Vista. The kits are available for check out.
    • Donna Metcalf reported that her Scrub a Hub Hub will take place on May 10, 9 am at the railroad park. She has received lots of sponsors, has gift certificates and Chamber Bucks to give as prizes. Mountain View Electric is donating pizzas. The clean up day is held twice a year in May and September.
    • Donna Metcalf announced that Nextera Energy has donated $5,000 to Downtown Limon. They will be planting flowers in planters the 23rd and 24th. Downtown Limon received three grants for benches and planters. So far, programs haven’t been cut.
    • Donna Metcalf stated that there are lots of houses on the market; some are new builds.
    • Raejean Palko will continue having classes in May and June.
    • Monica Gonzales reported that Peak Vista has a new behavior health provided who is in Limon two days a week. Peak Vista is currently trying to hire a second provider.
    • Cheyenne, last name unknown, introduced herself and stated that she is new to Morgan Community College. She will be working mostly in Bennett.
    • Cindy Tacha announced that the Work Force Center is manned Monday – Thursday.
    • Alison Arnold announced that the Limon American Legion is hosting a fishing derby on June 8th, 2 – 6 pm at Kissell Pond. Colorado Parks and Wildlife will donate free fishing poles to the first 25 kids. They will be selling food. Raejean Palko asked if the pond will be stocked for the event. Alison Arnold did not know the answer.
  • Learning Presentation—Jerry Davis, Colorado Department of Labor Vocational Rehabilitation, presented on services they provide to individuals and businesses. Voc Rehab was started in 1918. He stated that an individual must have a documented disability to be eligible for services; the office will help get that.

Called to order at 6:04 pm.

Present: Alison Arnold, Teresa Bauman, Jake Herrera, Jess Castle, Joy Johnson plus Chamber Administrator Katie Zipperer

  1. Since Jake won’t be available to lead the general meeting, someone needs to step in. Katie will do it.
  • Joy reported that she only has 10 vendors for July 4th. Since the school costs $425, she will cancel. After some discussion, it was decided to offer the vendors the asphalt lot between the visitor bleachers and the playground. A refund will be given to those who it’s called for. Joy and Teresa will work on that. It was also decided that those vendors who choose to be outside can set their own times.
  • Alison made a motion to approve Katie’s May time of 20 hours, Jess seconded, motion approved by vote.
  • Joy asked if it was possible to combine the application submission with the payment. That would cause a problem for those who don’t have to pay.
  • Jake is going to connect with Tim Andersen about July 4th.
  • Teresa reported that there is $1,664 in the checking account and she continues transferring money to savings. Joy asked how many memberships are outstanding? No answer was given. Katie will send invoices to non-paying members who do membership only. In the invoice she will include what was paid the previous year.
  • Brian and Laurie White, owners of South Side Bar and Grill, will join Chamber.
